You’ll appreciate Tucson’s rich cultural heritage with blends of Native American, Spanish, Mexican and Anglo-American influences seen architecturally and through culinary experiences.

Where do you want to live? Tucson Neighborhoods:

Central Tucson

Central Tucson defines the “heart” of Tucson neighborhoods with areas of long-standing subdivisions, parks, restaurants and shopping. Tucson is most certainly a “college” town and the University of Arizona and Downtown Tucson can be found in the Central Tucson area. In central Tucson neighborhoods, you’ll be close to the hub of the business community in downtown Tucson and the Tucson Arts District and cultural center. Although there are many charming established communities like Sam Hughes, Blenman Elm, Armory Park, The Barrio Historico, and El Encanto (upscale), Colonia Solano, revitalization is a focus and new, urban neighborhoods are growing by leaps and bounds with diverse populations. If you are relocating to Tucson, central Tucson, especially in the downtown area, is an exciting place to live.

North Tucson/Catalina Foothills in Tucson

Located at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains north 15-20 minutes from the heart of midtown city, the Catalina Foothills offer some of the best views of downtown yet features dramatic mountain settings and desert vegetation. With a mix of Southwest-style custom homes to blend with the natural desert landscape, North Tucson is considered home to Tucson’s most upscale restaurants, shopping, country clubs and art galleries. The Tucson neighborhoods in the North area is home to arguably the best school district in the city. Relocating to Tucson and living in the Foothills is a good choice because there are many choices between established and newer Tucson neighborhoods like Catalina Foothills, La Paloma, Ventana Canyon, Sabino Canyon, Pima Canyon and Fairfield. You’ll find gorgeous custom homes on large lots in the Catalina Foothills.

East Tucson

East Tucson combines commercial strips, apartments, condominiums with lower priced and mid priced housing, although there are some custom home pockets on larger lots. East side Tucson neighborhoods are bordered on the east by the National Park boundary. Tucson neighborhoods on the East side offer easy access to shopping and restaurants, and relatively easy access to I-10 and downtown Tucson. It’s also convenient to Davis Monthan Air Force Base.

West & Southwest Tucson

West Tucson neighborhoods offers easy access to I-10 and downtown, and is nestled on the west by the gorgeous Saguaro National Park and Mountain Park boundaries. Often characterized by open desert spaces, city views, and an abundance of wildlife, Tucson neighborhoods in the West are minutes to Saguaro National Park, Gates Pass, Starr Pass neighborhood and the Arizona Sonora Desert and downtown Tucson. If you are relocating to Tucson, the housing in the West is a mix of semi-rural and clustered developments. Moving a little Southwest, large, affordable lots and housing become available and provides easy access towards freeways, downtown Tucson and Mexico.

South & Southeast Tucson

With tons of open land, South Tucson neighborhoods are growing with “green” neighborhoods like Civano. This newer environmentally-friendly Tucson neighborhood has attracted younger families and the socially conscious to the less trendy southeast side of town. Other Tucson neighborhoods like Rita Ranch house many military families and those who work in tech and aerospace. Vail neighborhoods like Coyote Creek, Rancho del Lago and Loma Linda are also growing in leaps and bounds as more and more people are relocating to Tucson and the Vail School District excels academically.

Northwest Tucson

Tucson neighborhoods that are the fastest growing is the Northwest and includes Oro Valley and parts of Marana. With a hilly terrain, and beautiful views of the Catalina Foothills and Tortolita mountain ranges, you’ll find diverse housing choices. At Dove Mountain and nearby golf courses, upscale custom homes and lots can be found in Honey Bee Canyon and Stone Canyon. Rancho Vistoso is a master-planned neighborhood in Oro Valley with outstanding schools in the area, yet it is still close to the city and the Northwest side. Tucson’s Northwest has easy access to 1-10, and this area is only 1 ½ hours to Phoenix. If you are relocating to Tucson and travel often to the Phoenix area, Tucson’s Northwest is for you!

Northeast Tucson – Tanque Verde Valley

In Tucson neighborhoods located in the Northeast, you’ll find mostly semi-rural home sites, with easy access to Mt. Lemmon – (where there’s a 1 hour drive to to the top at Summerhaven for winter skiing and beautiful pine tree lined trails and riparian habitat). Cyclists love riding in the open roads in Northwest Tucson neighborhoods. Many homes include horse property. The Tanque Verde School District is a growing, strong District.
